Business insurance and employees' compensation in Namibia

Short answerChecked 31 October 2026
Work injuries in Namibia are covered by the Employees' Compensation Fund (ECF), run by the Social Security Commission under the Employees' Compensation Act 30 of 1941. An accident that needs medical care or keeps the employee off work for more than three days must be reported without delay; the SSC may penalise an employer who reports after 30 days. Employers also pay 0.9% of each employee's basic wage to the SSC's MSD Fund. Business property and liability are covered by short-term insurers, and riot or strike damage by NASRIA.
