Before you buy from ZSIC in Zambia
- Check that the policy is issued by one of the companies above — the licensed entity, not only the brand.
- For motor cover, check the insurer, and the broker or agent who sells you the policy, on the Pensions and Insurance Authority's list of licensed insurance entities for 2026, and read the insurance disc on the vehicle.
- Ask for the schedule and the exclusions in writing, and compare them with at least one other insurer.
- Keep in mind the claim rule that applies to every insurer: an insurer that accepts a claim must settle it within the prescribed period, and one that refuses must give you its reasons in writing (Insurance Act 2021, section 28).
- If something goes wrong, complain to the insurer in writing, then to the Registrar of the Pensions and Insurance Authority (pia@pia.org.zm, +260 211 251401) within one year of exhausting the insurer's process.
The rules above come from our guides: check a cover, licensed insurers and how to complain.
