Before you buy from Prudential in Nigeria
- Check that the policy is issued by one of the companies above — the licensed entity, not only the brand.
- For motor cover, check the company on NAICOM's lists of licensed insurers (and on its July and August 2026 notices of companies that met the new capital requirements), and verify a motor certificate on askniid.org or by dialling *565*11#.
- Ask for the schedule and the exclusions in writing, and compare them with at least one other insurer.
- Keep in mind the claim rule that applies to every insurer: NAICOM's circular of 6 March 2025 directs insurers to settle genuine claims promptly and to dispense with documents that are not fundamental to the loss, so ask the insurer for its claims timeline in writing and keep copies of everything you send.
- If something goes wrong, complain to the insurer in writing, then to NAICOM (complaints@naicom.gov.ng, or the complaint form on naicom.gov.ng), which aims to resolve simple complaints in 7 days and complex ones in 90 days.
The rules above come from our guides: licensed insurers and how to complain.
