- Receive a copy of your policy document in a language you understand before or at the time of purchase.
- Be given a clear explanation of what is covered, what is excluded, and what your obligations are.
- Receive a written explanation if your claim is rejected or partially settled, including the specific policy clause relied upon.

Your side of the contract
- Disclose everything material: insurance rests on utmost good faith, and hiding a pre-existing condition or past claims can void the policy.
- Report losses promptly and document them (photos, receipts, medical reports, police report).
- Fill in claim forms truthfully: false information is grounds for rejection and may be fraud.
- Keep the policy, premium receipts and endorsements.
Same NIC page. Compulsory insurance contracts that cover your liability to others may not exclude or limit the insurer's liability because of something done after the event that gives rise to the claim (Insurance Act, 2021, section 220(2), text).
