- Check that the policy is issued by one of the companies above — the licensed entity, not only the brand.
- For motor cover, check the insurer, and the broker or agent who sells you the policy, on the National Insurance Commission's register (nic.gov.gh, "Verify a licensed entity") before you pay.
- Ask for the schedule and the exclusions in writing, and compare them with at least one other insurer.
- Keep in mind the claim rule that applies to every insurer: the Insurance Act, 2021 sets no general deadline for paying a claim, so ask the insurer for its claims procedure and timeline in writing, and for a written reason if the claim is rejected (NIC consumer education).
